Simply speak to the actual DJ, not the person who owns the business who is not even a DJ. Also avoid the marketing hype of Bridal Industry Awards (BIA) instead look at online 3rd party reviews like on Facebook, Google and Easyweddings.
Q. How do you get ‘tricked’ into paying too much for your wedding DJ?
A.Economics 101, Demand and Supply. One way is to book more than 6 months in advance.
You see a lot of Bridal Award winning DJs will ADD extra when you enquire/want to book more than 6 months in advance. They figure if you want them that much (DEMAND) in advance you should pay a premium. That’s not fair but it happens everyday. They’ll sell you on the idea that dates are limited. Great DJs are limited (SUPPLY). But the truth inexpensive does not equate to great DJ.
These DJs also put their price up because they figure it will a popular wedding date. They and a premium amount and you end up paying more!
How do you ‘get around’ paying too much?
Do not book a DJ more than 6 months before your wedding (decrease DEMAND) and they’ll change their overpricing tactics. I know you are worried about not getting a great DJ but trust me they are playing on your fears.
